Mike Katchman (21 years in the video industry) – With a lengthy and successful career in home video sales, marketing, and acquisitions dating back to the early 1980’s, Mike’s resume begins with sales management positions at Congress Video Group and then VidAmerica before he was recruited by Orion. After a brief period in sales Mike was quickly moved into management where he flourished during the golden era that saw Orion setting the pace with such releases as Dances With Wolves and Silence of the Lambs among others. It was at this point that Mike was already trying on other hats within the organization, leading to involvement with film acquisitions as well as marketing. Rising to the position of Senior Vice President of Sales, Mike was eventually responsible for all entertainment sales in the U.S. and Canada before Orion was sold to MGM, where he filled a similar role until being drafted by Lionsgate. In three very productive years with Lionsgate Mike contributed to revenues that rose from $32 million to $110 million before being lured away to First Look Studios where he was central to an even more dramatic 500% increase in sales from 2004-07. All good things come to an end, however, and for Mike that ending is also a new beginning. Ever the loyal soldier, Mike has decided to break away from the establishment and rise to the challenge of creating a brand new entity. He’s just assembled a top national sales team with access to the largest national accounts, and with Mike at the helm there should be no doubt that this group has the experience and the energy necessary to build Rivercoast Films Distribution into the next great independent success story. Tony Ventura (34 years in the video industry) Common sense and a sense of humor are Tony’s greatest attributes, and he’s parlayed heaping doses of both into a career that spans 3 decades. There’s not a whole lot that Tony hasn’t done. He’s filled every post imaginable during his tenure in the video industry, including Owner, President, VP and everything on down. As Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Video Releasing Corporation, Tony was on the vanguard of revenue sharing during the 1980’s. With Omni Entertainment Services, and then Sunset Hill Productions, his winning streak continued as his industry experience grew exponentially as he acquired and produced various independent projects. It was a desire to work for someone else for a change that led to Tony joining First Look Home Entertainment as one of the first Regional Sales Managers. From 2000-07, Tony anchored the First Look sales team as he handled such national accounts as Movie Gallery, Hollywood Video, Best Buy, and K-Mart. A true Entrepreneur, however, can never stray to far from what they do best, and that probably best explains Tony’s founding involvement with Rivercoast. It’s here, working with Mike Katchman to launch the industry’s newest start-up, side by side with a solid group of industry professionals, where Tony is poised to hit his stride. Lisa Jones (18 years in the video industry) Lisa began her career in home video in the late Eighties working with Roger Corman at his New Horizons Home Video. As South East Regional Sales Manager, Lisa made her bones in the industry by selling giant dinosaur movies and martial arts epics (among others) for the legendary low-budget producer/director. Moving on to a better opportunity came in the form of APIX Entertainment, where she was VP of Sales for the Eastern Region. It was at APIX that Lisa blossomed into the professional she is today, expanding on her already extensive contacts in the South East and creating new relationships for herself with all manner of key retail and distribution in the Mid West as well. In 2001 Lisa moved onto what was then the pinnacle of her career to date: a position as Sales Director with then-President Bill Bromiley and his newly emerging First Look Home Entertainment. As one of the original First Lookers, Lisa was responsible for introducing the First Look brand to a huge portion of the country, and obviously she did so very well if evidenced by the yearly doubling of overall revenue FLHE experienced during those years. It was in that environment of rapid growth that Lisa proved just how valuable she can be, cementing relationships with customers such as Ingram Corporate, Alliance in Florida, Southern, DMK, and Flicks Blockbuster, as well as Albertsons and Ingles grocery and Borders up in Ann Arbor. Well traveled, confident, and eager for more success. That’s the best way to describe Lisa.
